Enrolment for new international students

Your enrollment date and places are listed in the tab you find below.

Please make sure you have the following items ready in order to successfully enrol: 

  • Passport (if non-EU: with a valid visa for study purposes)
  • 2 passport pictures
  • Proof of health insurance valid in Germany (insurance can be taken out in Germany)
  • Zulassungsbescheid (Letter of Admission) issued by Leipzig University

Welcome Week for new international students

At the beginning of each academic year, Leipzig University arranges a welcome week for new international students. It comprises a number of special activities and services providing support in administrative issues and giving you a first chance to get in touch with your new home city as well as other students. 

Welcome week 2014 at a glance:

  • dates: 29.09. – 03.10.2014

Programme featuring

  • city tour
  • venue at the Krytallpalast Varieté
  • guided tour to a beer brewery
  • Welcome Party on 10.10.2014 and much more

Services, such as

  • advice in matters of visa and residence permit
  • registration with the city authorities
  • health insurance
  • bank account
  • advice concerning your studies
  • tours around the University Library etc., etc. 

If you are an exchange student attending the language and orientation course prior to the semester start, you usually enrol before the Welcome Week. But of course you are very welcome to take part in the Welcome Week’s party.

Induction week

The induction week provides new students with a wealth of essential information on their studies. It comprises a number of informative events in which you learn about studying at Leipzig University, e.g. your study plan and how to organize your studies. You can choose among a variety of lectures that are directed at bachelor or master students or teacher education students. In addition, you can attend events that focus on individual study programmes or see a study advisor for more specific queries.
