Registering for modules in bachelor and master programmes
The majority of study programmes at Leipzig University consist of seminars, lectures, tutorials etc., all grouped into thematic bundles. These are called modules. Students take different types of modules, i.e. compulsory, compulsory elective and key qualification modules. All bachelor and master students must register for their modules at the start of each semester. This involves registering for the module classes and for the module exam.
Module enrolment in the bachelor programmes is carried out in phases, with different registration phases for each of the following:
- core subject modules,
- key qualification modules (SQ-modules),
- modules in the elective area of the Humanities and Social Sciences, and
- modules on educational science in the teaching qualification programmes.
Responsibility for module enrolment in the master programmes lies with the institutes providing the programmes:
- core subject modules and
- modules on educational science in the teaching qualification programmes.
Registering for core subject modules
The institute providing your study programme is responsible for registration in the core subject modules. For this reason, you should get in contact with the individual institution/s to find how registration for their modules is organised.
Registering for key qualification modules
You will find the entire range of key qualification (SQ) modules for the bachelor programmes in the SQ-Broschüre (SQ brochure). Please also take note of the Korrekturblatt (corrections sheet) for the SQ brochure, in which changes to the list of available modules are announced.
Use the online enrolment system Tool to enrol in the SQ modules.

Registering for modules of the elective area
In the bachelor programmes of the Humanities and Social Sciences, students can choose compulsory elective modules. You will find the entire range of these modules in the Wahlbereichsbroschüre (elective area brochure). Please also take note of the Korrekturblattt (corrections sheet) for the elective area brochure, in which changes to the modules offered are announced.
Use the online enrolment system Tool to enrol in the compulsory elective modules. If you need help, please contact the person responsible for module registration in your core subject.

Use the online portal Tool to enrol in the educational science modules for the bachelor programmes.
