Abstract

Maike Schmidt (*1986 in Bremen) is a historian specializing in the history of early modern France and german-french borderlands, nobility networks and animal history. In her PhD thesis she worked on the hunt with trained hounds and its deep impact on court life and concepts of kingship and nobility. Special emphasis was put on the reign of Francis I (1515-1547). The work was published in 2019 under the title "Jagd und Herrschaft". Her research now focuses on early modern borderlands in the western part of the Holy Roman Empire. The cooperation project "Espaces frontaliers" (together with University of Lorraine, Nancy) is funded by CIERA. Her teaching in Leipzig is centered on early modern France, german-french relations, borders in premodern Europe and animal history.
